Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine Day or AHM Day was a great success this year! This is a day designated to honor Eastern Medicine, educate the public and service the community by providing treatments and activites for health and well-being. We had a steady flow of people stopping in to take part in the activities all throughout the day and a waitlist for Reiki. Thank you to Hillary and Odile for providing such great care!
Professor Ken was there to lead Taichi and impart his knowledge on the effects of Taichi on the body. Thank you Professor Ken for coming out to serve!
Karen Lin, alumnus, attended and managed the Community Acupuncture. Over 20 patients signed up and we made room for additional walk-ins. Karen Lin ran a Community Shift in the past, which was always fully booked. Jincan and Danielle came to work the Community Acupuncture and had a blast working in a group setting. Both of you left nothing but smiles on patients —thank you for being part of AHM Day! Thank you so much, Karen, for returning and making it a wonderful first experience for our students. It was so lovely to see you again!
Ending the festivities, we were joined by Zura Yoga Studio. Martha completed the day with sound healing and meditation. The deep relaxation was the perfect way to wrap up AHM Day. Thank you, Martha!! And we’re hoping to see you again very soon!
And last but not least, to Kelly Williams, who organized this whole day, and Aida Almanzar, who allowed us to provide all these services free of cost to the public —THANK YOU for the dedication and time you put into making this AHM Day 2025 a huge success!
On a personal note, I spoke with many who attended, and EVERY single person praised the clinic for the quality of care and respect they received and the professionalism that was displayed. Some of the things they shared with me really touched me. Here is one encounter I had….
Patient: The students are better than my last acupuncturist.
Me: (a little shocked and definitely curious) What do you mean??
Patient: I was seeing someone privately but they didn’t take the time and I felt like they were always rushing to get to the next patient. The students listen and actually care enough to ask questions.
I already knew! BUT, hearing it is also really nice- it reinforces the passion and reasons why we practice this medicine.
ATTENTION ESATM INTERNS… you are doing a great job, and the numerous patients I spoke with AHM Day would testify to that!
