ESATM took part in a Health Fair at Winchester Gardens in Maplewood, NJ. It was a great success! Ashley Basantes, the Recreational Director and a former ESATM student, reached out to us with the invitation. Not only did she help put this together, but she also closed the health fair with an acupuncture treatment from our interns.
There was so much interest that a line formed pretty much all afternoon. We had Kelly Murphy, who was manning the flow of our waitlist, and Rebecca McCarthy, who was assisting our interns in pulling needles.. A big shout-out to both of you for your help! We also had Hillary Fink join us in stirring up interest and answering questions our guests had. Thank you, Hillary!
CJ Andris and Jasper Lee treated 28 people with auricular acupuncture (and some additional treatment on limbs if access was available) in just over three hours. They worked really hard trying to fit everyone in while still being friendly and ensuring everyone was ok throughout the process. I was nothing but impressed at how they handled the volume with such grace. You both did a SUPERIOR job! (pics below)
Dr. Ilona, thank you for joining and for your support! It was lovely to have you with us. And last but not least, we had a surprise appearance by Ms. Sherlley Alvarez- thanks for your show of support!
I had a great time in a different setting, and what I observed was how each of the students worked together and thrived outside the typical clinical setting.
Watching all the smiling faces leave our treatment area with relief, I couldn’t be prouder to say that ESATM is lucky to have such great students!
Interest was so abundant from the residents that we have been asked to return, and the goal is to set up a one-day, fully functional clinic on Winchester grounds by the end of the year. So keep that in the back of your head!
We have a few more events scheduled for this semester, coming up next month!
