Battlefield Acupuncture Specialist (BFA)
Invented by Dr. Richard Niemtzow in 2001, he was one of the first full-time acupuncturists in the US Armed Forces. John Howard completed a 5-year fellowship (2005-2010) with Dr. Niemtzow. During this time, he began co-teaching the BFA protocol with Dr. Niemtzow. Since 2009, John has been teaching Battlefield Acupuncture throughout the United States and Europe to acupuncturists, medical doctors, and the US Military, NATO, VA and Indian Health Services physicians/employees.

Battlefield Acupuncture (BFA) is an auriculotherapy protocol (ear acupuncture) that is one of the strongest protocols for pain reduction. In some cases, BFA can reduce pain faster than most narcotics. Results can be felt by the patient in minutes. BFA uses a specific type of auricular needle known as an ASP® needle.

- Illusions of the ear.
- Why use Battlefield Acupuncture? What conditions can it treat?
- How to properly insert ASP® (auricular) needles; the most effective needle for the protocol.
- Conditions that can be treated by Battlefield Acupuncture.
- Point Location and their Function.
- Precautions to take and when to stop needling.
- Know ABO blood type to improve patient actions.
- Ear Care and Follow-up.
- How to successfully incorporate the protocol into your practice.
- During the afternoon clinical portion, the technique will be demonstrated on volunteers.
Sunday’s Topic: Advanced Battlefield Acupuncture and Clinical Pearls
- Learn to use fewer needles to improve results and extend the duration of pain elimination or reduction!

Current practitioners will receive eight (8) per day continuing education units (PDA points) per day for completion of the class, an email will be sent from NCCAOM within 48 hours after the end of the seminars with a link to the certificate each day attended. Attendees must attend the class in its entirety to receive the certificate for that day.
Refund Policy:
Up to Two (2) months before classes, refunded at 75%. Up to Seven (7) weeks before classes, refunded at 50%
Up to Five (5) weeks before classes, refunded at 25%. Less than (5) weeks before classes, there is no refund
