Dear ESATM Community,
Our Lunar New Year event was a great success! I was so impressed with all the students who came out to help out. All of you worked hard to make this event a hit. Showing up and practicing what you love- all with smiles and such professionalism makes me proud that I was able to share this event with all of you! Thank you to all our interns who made sure every person left feeling relief that showed in their smiles- Junhan, Leslie, CJ, Jasper, Julie and Tiana who came in for a bit to help! And to all our Assistants that put in so much effort to be supportive to interns and work the clinic- Rebecca, Kelly, Veronica and Artemisa- every single person that left the clinic floated out! The feedback was 100% satisfied from the public. All of our ESATM students were a huge part in making this event special for our community by providing memorable first experiences for many new visitors.
This year we expanded services to the community, not only providing group acupuncture and taichi led by Professor Ken, but also by opening the clinic where patrons could benefit from therapeutic body work services such as cupping, tuina, moxibustion and guasha. Odile, an alumni was also providing reiki in the clinic- thanks for being present Odile! There was a steady stream of visitors and times where students had to shuffle back and forth from the community acupuncture room to the clinic to keep up with the demand.
A big part of the successful turnout was a major overhaul of the school’s website and creation of a separate Intern clinic webite. Over the last 6 months we have increased our presence on social media- thank you Kelly Williams for organizing the event and to all staff with spreading the word about ESATM on social media platforms. If you are on social media, please like or follow ESATM. It’s a great way to stay updated and informed about events, CEU’s and other happenings. And please share ESATM posts- it’s effortless marketing practice and helps keep a steady flow of patients in the Intern Clinic for students to treat.
These community events are so important to ESATM- not only are we fulfilling part of our mission statement in giving back to the community, they’re important for expanding the boundaries of Eastern medicine by providing education and exposure to a centuries old medicine that people seem to be yearning in our current climate. Students get experience with marketing and practicing outside of the clinic environment. Most of all- they’re plain old fun! I want to once again give a very heartfelt thank you to all the students, staff and faculty who came out to participate. It would not have been successful without you.
(PS- We have AHM day in October in case you missed this one.)
Happy New Year everyone! We’re off to a fantastic start!
Sincerely,
Christine Henckel
