Susan DiRaimo is a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. Susan also teaches English as a Second Language at City College of New York and Lehman College in the Bronx and coauthored Life, Language and the Urban College Experience. She was the Vice President for Part Time Personnel of the Professional Staff Congress of the American Federation of Teachers . Presently she is a Delegate from the City College of New York for the Professional Staff Congress.  She is on the Board of Trustees of the Belle Zeller Scholarship for students at the City University of New York. Susan is the Volunteer Director of the Northwest Support Committee for the Homeless, which feeds the subway homeless in New York City and ran an overnight shelter. She received an award from Community Board 10 for her work with the homeless.
