To enter the MSAc program at ESATM, applicants are required to have 60 college credits in any subject. Applicants who intend to apply for NJ state licensure are required to have a bachelor’s degree in any subject, independent of their acupuncture education. Graduates of ESATM who do not hold a bachelor's degree are eligible to apply for state licensure in surrounding states, including NY, DE, PA, CT, and others. Applicants must submit all official post-secondary education transcripts directly to the Director of Admissions. All post-secondary education outside the US must be evaluated by the World Education Service (WES) www.wes.org

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING FEDERAL AID REQUIREMENTS

While ESATM will accept 60 college credits to enter the program, the Federal Aid requirements have changed for students with fewer than 90 credits at ESATM. Therefore, students entering the MSAc program with fewer than 90 credits will not be eligible for financial aid until approximately year two of the acupuncture program.

The state of NJ requires a bachelor’s degree for state licensing, acupuncture licenses are not transferable between states.

All incoming students must present a valid photo ID at their enrollment meeting, a driver's license, or a passport. If the student was not born in the US, they must also bring valid proof of citizenship.

Applicants must supply three letters of reference from individuals knowledgeable about the applicant’s potential for success in a graduate-level academic program.  Applicants are encouraged to seek references mainly from health professionals, educators, employers, clients, etc.

Applicants must submit a 2-4 page essay stating their interest in the acupuncture field.  This essay can be from a professional or personal point of view. If you are going to use references in your essay, please list the references and cite them in the body of the essay.

All applicants under the age of 30 must submit their vaccination records (applicants can utilize a copy of their post-secondary school vaccination records or their GP) with their application.

ESATM does not provide Student Visas.

All post-secondary education outside the US must be evaluated by the World Education Service (WES) www.wes.org  The MSAc program is taught solely in English. Applicants who do not have any post-secondary education in the United States are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. This may be satisfied by scoring at least 80 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) internet-based test (iBT).

After all supporting documents are received, applicants are reviewed by the Director of Admissions, who makes the final decision for acceptance. Applicants are notified via email of their admission status.

Chinese Herbal Medicine Program Certificate

The Chinese Herbal Program starts annually in the Winter trimester. The application deadline is November 15.

Transfer Students

  • Applicant may be required to submit additional course information, such as a syllabus or course description, to complete the evaluation.
  • Applicants may be required to take a placement exam or test out of specific courses for transfer credit eligibility.

Transfer applicants must meet the pre-requisite MSAc program requirements listed above.

In Addition

Official transcripts from an ACAHM accredited institution must be submitted with your application to the MSAC program at ESATM. Applicants may be required to submit additional course information such as syllabi or course descriptions to determine transfer credit eligibility. Applicants may be required to take a placement exam or test out of specific courses for transfer credit eligibility. Eligible transfer credit must have been earned within the last three years of acupuncture education.  Only completed coursework from an accredited institution may be directly transferrable. ESATM does not offer partial credit.  Not all ACAHM accredited institutions offer similar credits, hours, coursework, and breakdown of curriculum, therefore courses that do not meet the credits, hours, or coursework to a full standard are ineligible for transfer.

Transfer applicants should complete a transfer evaluation request prior to applying to the MSAc program.

Prospective transfer students from accredited ACAHM institutions may request a transfer evaluation prior to applying to the MSAc program at ESATM.

To request a transfer evaluation please submit the following:

  • A completed Transfer Evaluation Request Form
  • A $75.00 Transfer Evaluation Fee. (The $75.00 transfer application fee is waived for applicants who requested a transfer evaluation prior to applying to the MSAc program).
  • All unofficial (or official) ACAHM accredited institutional transcripts. (Official transcripts must be submitted with your application to the MSAC program at ESATM, unofficial transcripts can be used solely for evaluation purposes). Director of Admissions.

Acupuncture Program Tuition & Fees

Graduates are trained to have their own successful practices; however, the job market is increasing for acupuncturists. We provide a private alumni job forum that posts job openings in the health and wellness field, which is exclusive to the alumni.

In the event of a disorderly closure, the institutional debt shall be void and shall not be recovered, collected, or enforced.

Financial Aid

At the present time, only the Masters in Acupuncture program is participating in the US Department of Education, Title IV Federal Student Financial Aid Program. The Eastern School realizes that educational costs are an important consideration when furthering your education. A variety of financial assistance programs and financing options are offered to students who need to supplement their own resources to meet costs. The Eastern School participates in the US Education Department’s Title IV Student Loan program and the NJ Class Loan program.

Students are encouraged to apply online at FAFSA and HESAA. Additionally, we also offer extended payment plans.

National Exams

Upon completion of the MSAc program, graduates are eligible to take their national board examinations.

New Jersey Acupuncture License Requirements

Upon completion of the MSAc program (and completion of a bachelor’s degree independent of your acupuncture education) graduates may take their NJ State board examination.
